Limited Gikirima AA is a taste journey to Kenya in the style of Lehmus Roastery

Limited Gikirima AA on makumatka Keniaan Lehmus Roasteryn tyyliin

Lehmus Roastery's new coffee, the Limited Series Gikirima AA, has been launched today.

Behind the funny name lies a super-quality Kenyan Arabica coffee with a taste of green apple, citrus acidity and lingonberry berryness. The coffee is a light roast, medium-bodied and well-balanced coffee with many nuances.
"Balance was exactly what attracted me to this Kenyan coffee.
"Kenyan coffees are characteristically strongly acidic and berry, with a particular taste of grape and currant. Often one characteristic dominates, but this Gikirima AA bean has a very good balance of freshness, sweetness and fullness. The taste is very nuanced," says Visa Tuovinen, roasting master at Lehmus Roastery.

This is a particularly high-quality bean from the slopes of Mount Kenya.

Gikirima AA comes from the slopes of Mount Kenya, where the coffee berries grow at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level. The coffee berries, which grow in the Embu province, are brought to the Gikirima processing station, where the beans for this coffee batch are washed. After processing, the beans dry for one to two weeks on raised beds, after which the beans are ready to leave for roasters around the world.

The AA in the name refers to a grading scale for Kenyan coffee beans, which combines the uniformity of the coffee bean in size classification and quality. Beans that receive an AA rating are uniform in size, which also means that they roast very evenly. To be precise, the beans are 7.22-6.80 mm in cross-section. In some lower grades of coffee, the size of the beans can vary greatly, which means that the degree of roasting of the beans can vary.

Enjoy it in black

According to roaster Tuovinen, Gikirima AA is of course suitable for all kinds of coffee moments, but it is particularly good for afternoon coffee moments.
"The coffee's balanced freshness and tartness combined with a rich flavor profile is just the right coffee for the afternoon. We recommend brewing the coffee with a V60 system, Aeropress, or a good filter coffee maker."

Limited Gikirima AA coffee on sale in Lehmus Roastery's online store and at Satamatie 6 from Saturday, February 9, 2018. The price for this special batch is €18.90 / 200 g.
