Lehmus Roastery's coffee bags are made in Ukraine. We have been ordering the same bags since 2016, i.e. since the roastery's early days. Our roastery is located in Lappeenranta, close to Finland's eastern border, so the proximity of our eastern neighbor and visa issues, among other things, have also been a topic of daily discussion here in the southeast.
For these reasons, the crisis caused by Russia's war of aggression has also come close to us, both mentally and physically.
Today we have launched Slava Ukraini support coffee. The label for this package was designed by Kiev artist Olena Tyschenko , who arrived in Helsinki as a refugee in March.

The illustration on the coffee package is based on a painting Tyshchenko painted with acrylics for this purpose. The painting shows a view of a yellow grain field, with a large dark cloud visible in the blue-toned sky. A bird has flown into the center of the picture to observe the situation.
“The painting reflects the resilience, perseverance, faith and hope of the Ukrainian people. We are like that bird in the picture – a small but brave country.”
Tyschenko studied at the Department of Culture and Arts at the University of Kiev. He has been painting and drawing alongside his studies in environmental design.
Slava Ukraini coffee is a dark roast, smooth and full-bodied blend of Caturra, Bourbon and Typica Arabica beans from the village of El Basal, in northern Peru. The coffee is washed and grown at high altitudes, 1400–1750 meters. The aromas of the coffee are dark chocolate, sugarcane sweetness and a touch of berry, as well as strength, perseverance and courage.
These coffees are also packaged in coffee bags made in Ukraine.
The proceeds from the support coffee, i.e. 50% of the package's price excluding VAT, will be donated Through the aid account of the Central Bank of Ukraine for humanitarian aid. The Central Bank of Ukraine has opened such a donation channel, and we are donating the proceeds from the coffee there.
