Lehmus Roastery and Uuttaja's What's Up? coffee proceeds will be donated to mental health work

Lehmus Roasteryn ja Uuttajan Mitä kuuluu? -kahvin tuotto lahjoitetaan mielenterveystyöhön

Today is World Mental Health Day. In honor of the day, Lehmus Roastery from Lappeenranta and Juuso Viljanen , the administrator of the coffee and tea blog Uuttaja.fin from Tampere, prepared a coffee, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Finnish Mental Health Association Mieli ry.

How are you? coffee is a high-quality Guatemalan coffee that is a natural way to ask your loved ones how they are and to be a shoulder to lean on.
"Mental health issues affect me on a personal level, and I've noticed how much it helps to have a listening ear. When your mind is full of sadness, problems, and anxiety, it's easy to turn inward," Viljanen says.

For Lehmus Roastery, collaboration was a natural way to highlight a serious issue.
"We have collaborated with Uuttaja before and we appreciate how openly Juuso has also spoken about his own life situations. This kind of coffee is a good way for us to raise an important topic and also remove taboos around depression, for example. We can talk about things," says Arttu Muukkonen from Lehmus.

It's natural to talk about difficult things over coffee

Juuso Viljanen tasting different roasting options in the summer, when the coffee development work was underway.

How are you? -coffee was born from the idea that over a coffee, something that is everyday for Finns, anyone who feels unwell could get first-hand verbal help from someone close to them.
" A Finnish coffee table is the perfect place to talk. No one can cope with their problems alone. The proceeds donated to MIELI ry support mental health work so that things can be fixed on a larger scale. This is our contribution to removing the stigma associated with talking about mental health problems and supporting mental health work. Without compromising on the quality of the coffee."

At Viljanen's request, the roasters at Lehmus Roastery developed a coffee that would suit as many people as possible, but would also be interesting for coffee enthusiasts. The end result was a product roasted from Guatemalan specialty coffee beans with a fruity sweetness and light acidity.

In the label, two characters meet

Lehmus Roastery's artistic director Samu Koskinen and Juuso Viljanen went through label options in June.

The coffee label was designed by Samu Koskinen of Lehmus Roastery. He says that even the design work required time, given the seriousness of the subject.
“We didn’t want to make the package and label too heavy, but rather tried to approach the matter as cheerfully as possible. For this reason, the label also features warm colors and light font choices. With the illustration, we wanted to highlight the diverse flavor world of coffee, which the light, fresh colors also represent.

We also wanted to incorporate the coffee moment into the design and illustration, which is generally an easy situation for having conversations.

How are you? -coffee is available at Koskilinna coffee shop in Tampere and Satamatie 6, and can be ordered through Lehmus Roastery's online store. Price 9.90€, the proceeds will be donated in full to Mieli ry in November. (Editor's note: product sold out and link removed.)
