During remote work, home coffee makers are used more than before, and on the other hand, weekend spending is at a minimum, so let's get to know how to clean coffee makers.
Cleaning your coffee maker at home is important and necessary so that the coffee maker works properly, the coffee tastes right without any extra flavors, and after all, clean and maintained appliances make life more comfortable in every way.
If the coffee maker has been mistreated and water has been poured into it from a dirty coffee pot, grease and dirt may have accumulated in the pipes. These do not actually improve the taste of the coffee.
So we put together a step-by-step guide to cleaning your coffee maker.
What is needed?
- Coffee maker
- Cleaning agent
- Water
- Takes about 30 minutes
Let's start the cleaning!
We use Clean drop cleaning agent, which is available in almost all stores, and it is a recommended cleaning agent and can also be conveniently purchased from Lehmus Roastery's online store.
Clean Drop contains water, tetrasodium and citric acid monohydrate. The substance has a pH value of around 11, meaning it is strongly alkaline.

1. Prepare the coffee maker: place the pan and the filter funnel in place. Then fill the water tank of the coffee maker with lukewarm water. One liter of water is enough.

2. Click on the power and let the kettle run for one minute.

3. Turn off the power and add one sachet of detergent to the water tank. Leave it to work for a few minutes, for example three minutes.

4. Click on the power again.

5. Admire the gray liquid accumulating in the pan, but don't be alarmed, it's not a matter of dirt in the kettle if the liquid is mainly light or white.
If it's brown, you can conclude that the kettle has accumulated all kinds of dirt and it's time to start cleaning!

6. Once the coffee maker has pumped the last of the water into the pan, tip the pan into the sink and clean it thoroughly. It is also a good idea to wash the filter funnel at this stage.

7. Then the rinsing phase of the kettle begins. Add another liter of water to the water tank and boil the water through in the pan. Repeat once, twice or three times. We rinsed with two boiling water.

8. Ready! The device is clean again and ready to receive high-quality small roaster coffees with strong aromas and delicious flavors!
