Lehmus Roastery's popular Kettu coffees have arrived in stores again. To celebrate this traditional end-of-year highlight, we've got our own composition from Kettu, and it couldn't be better!
Hymn to Kettu Coffees is a complete work of art from Lappeenranta. It was commissioned by Lehmus Roastery, composed, written and arranged with a choir by the Lappeenranta-based musical multi-talent Seppo Äikäs . ( Read Äikäs' interview here. )
The song is performed by Lappeenranta's teekkari singers in fox costumes and teekkari caps. The music video was filmed, directed and edited by Lappeenranta resident Lauri Aapro and the filming locations are Lappeenranta's most famous landmarks, such as Marian Square and the ramparts of the fortress.
"In Lappeenranta, we hope that local companies and the university will cooperate extensively. This is our contribution to this discussion. We are involved in saving the world, one note and one coffee bean at a time, " describes Arttu Muukkonen, CEO of Lehmus Roastery.

Lappeenranta-based photographer Nelli Rugojeva documents the atmosphere of a photo shoot held on Marian Square one autumn Friday:
The fox costumes were pleasantly warm in the slightly cool autumn weather. The tee-shirt caps also fit well on the fox heads.
The six-person team of Teekkari singers gathered spectators in the middle of the city. The backdrop of the choir was the Marian Church, built in the 1790s. In the center was the choir director Seppo Äikäs.

At the end of the song, foxes were recorded waving at various locations for possible further use. Here, the foxes are taking a break in the church park.

Three Kettu coffees arrive from Fazenda IP and are available throughout Finland
Kettu coffees come in three forms: the selection includes medium-roasted Kettu coffee, Dark Kettu, and spicy Kettu coffee, whose aromas come from real cardamom and Ceylon cinnamon.
The coffees arrive in the traditional way from the Fazenda IP farm in the Pedralva province of southern Minas Gerais. The coffees are of high quality Yellow Bourbon Arabica and the coffees are recognizable by their nutty and chocolatey flavor, in addition to which the coffees have a pleasant fruity fresh aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and remarkably soft.
Dark fox, thanks to its dark roast, brings aromas to dark chocolate, and Spice fox feels like drinking a fresh bun, because the flavor nuance brought by cardamom and cinnamon in the coffee is so tasty!
Kettu coffees are available in grocery stores and shops all over Finland. If your local store doesn't yet carry these coffees, tip the shopkeeper or store manager about Kettu coffees, and maybe the product will move from Lappeenranta to the shelves of your local store too!
