Mild Mokka is a new coffee from Finland's most awarded roaster and a completely new product category, in which the amount of caffeine has been reduced by half compared to regular filter coffee.
The caffeine content is halved by blending regular and decaffeinated versions of the same coffee. This way we can control the taste of the coffee and offer a new category. Semi-decaffeinated coffees are available in the US and UK, but less so in continental Europe or the Nordic countries – to our knowledge, this is the first semi-decaffeinated coffee in Finland!
Mild Mokka arrives from a small farming community in the Huila region
The mild Moka is produced by the Divino Nino smallholder farming community operating in the Colombian region of Huila. The community includes around 50 farming families and is led by Edilma Polania Bermeo .
A blend of three Arabica varieties (Castillo, Caturra and Colombia) grown at high altitudes of 1,300–1,750 meters. The regular coffee is washed, while the decaffeinated version has the caffeine removed using traditional ethyl acetate from sugar beets.
Mild Mocha is a lighter summer coffee that is suitable for morning, midday and afternoon coffees. Mild Mocha is a medium-dark roasted taste experience, with 50% caffeine content providing body and a full mouthfeel, while the decaffeinated half provides softness and gentleness. The taste has hints of milk chocolate and a light nuttiness.
